Crucible playbook

The Football Route Tree

The route tree is the shared language of the passing game: each route is a path with a set depth and break, so the quarterback knows exactly where a receiver will be and when.

Here are the most common routes in Crucible’s library, grouped the way receivers are coached: outside routes for the wideouts, inside routes for slots and tight ends, and the running back’s routes out of the backfield. Depths are in yards from the line of scrimmage. Some routes adjust to the coverage, and the diagrams show those conversions as dotted lines.

Reading It Is the Hard Part
Knowing what a coverage looks like on paper is step one. Crucible puts you at quarterback against it, rep after rep, until the read is automatic.
