Snag Concept

Snag puts a short snag route under a corner route, two receivers working a low-high on the cornerback. If the corner sinks with the corner route, the snag is open underneath; if the corner sits on the snag, the corner route is open behind it.

How Snag Is Built

In Crucible's Snag, the corner route breaks toward the sideline at 12 yards and pulls the outside defender deep. The snag angles inside to 5 yards and sits in the spot that defender left.

What Snag Beats

  • Cover 2 Tampa: the corner route attacks the hole behind the squatting corner.
  • Cover 3: the corner and snag low-high the Curl/Flat defender.
  • Man coverage, with the corner route breaking away from inside leverage when the post safety can't get there.

How the QB Reads It

Before the snap, the tightest safety (two high) or the tightest flat defender (one high) picks your side. Against two high, read the cornerback low to high: if the corner gains depth with the corner route, throw the snag; if the corner sits on the snag, throw the corner route over the top.

Against one high, key the post safety first, then the same Low-High. Against a buzz rotation, work away from the rotation.
