# Corner Route

A corner route, also called a flag route, is a vertical stem that breaks outside toward the back corner of the end zone, at 12 yards in Crucible's diagram. It is a classic answer to two-high coverage with cloud corners, like Cover 2 Tampa, landing between a squatting corner and the deep safety.

## How the Corner Route Is Run

Often run by a slot or inside receiver, it releases as if running a seam or post, then breaks outside and climbs toward the sideline. Throw it over the underneath defender and in front of the safety.

## What It Beats

- Cover 2 Tampa and the half-field side of Cover 6, whose cloud corners sit in the flat and leave the sideline hole behind them.
- Man coverage when the defender has inside leverage.
- With a short route underneath, as in Snag, it puts the corner in a low-high bind.
