## Reading the Diagrams

The numbers are depths in yards from the line of scrimmage. A dotted line is a conversion: the way the route changes against a certain coverage, labelled with the look that triggers it.

Some routes look alike on paper. A curl and a hitch both stop and turn back to the quarterback, but at different depths; a stick and a snag both settle at about 5 yards, but from different angles.

## Common Questions

### Who is this quiz for?

Young quarterbacks and receivers learning the route tree, flag players, and the coaches and parents teaching them.

### Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and nothing is saved anywhere except your own browser.

Reading It Is the Hard Part
Knowing what a coverage looks like on paper is step one. Crucible puts you at quarterback against it, rep after rep, until the read is automatic.
